Pavia Technology Pole

Welcome to PAVIA TECHNOLOGY POLE, the new science and technology park

Opening: March 2012

Pavia Technology Pole (PTP) offers companies flexible office and laboratory accommodation, together with supporting facilities and services. Potential entrepreneurs and startups who seek an environment in which to develop their innovative ideas are supplied with fully equipped office space. The facilities onsite include conference / meeting rooms, high-speed broad-band, reception etc.

Tenants are provided with a wide range of services, some provided free under the leasing agreement, some subject to an additional charge. The philosophy of the Park is that tenants must be freed of small every day problems related to office / laboratory use and be able to devote their time to their core business.

PTP provides business support in a number of ways: contacts with investors, preparation of business plans, applications for funding from regional and national government schemes or EU Framework programs, exploitation of intellectual property, creation of networks.

Finally, PTP seeks to feed the cycle of innovation processes (LINK “Business support & incubation”) by scouting and selecting new entrepreneurial ideas and technologies. Companies located in the park will have the opportunity to collaborate with the University of Pavia departments and with other major public research organizations (CNR, INFM, INFN) and hospitals (Policlinico San Matteo, Fondazione Salvatore Maugeri, Neurologic Institute C. Mondino) that are established in Pavia. They will also find it easy to contact undergraduates, graduates and PhD students, for internships or recruitment.

Marketing and networking

The Polo offers companies useful information and helps them spread information: from scouting of technologies developed inside university departments, to access to virtual laboratories, from showcase of innovations developed inside the park to access to networks

Business support

The Pole provides companies with support for raising funds, for participating in research and innovation calls, for defending and exploiting intellectual property

Tenants

At its opening the Pole is home to about 15 companies employing about 100 people. They are either established, early-stage or start-up companies, some of which university spin-offs, operating mainly in ICT, but also in other high-tech fields such as laser technologies or vitrification of radioactive wastes. Moreover, some tenant companies located in the Polo offer services for the development of new drugs and medical devices, in collaboration with biotech companies and academic laboratories.
